With Juneteenth just around the corner, it’s time to make some plans in how you’re going to celebrate this holiday.
Today I’m bringing to you guys a couple ideas on how you can celebrate Juneteenth!
11 Enjoyable Things to Do on Juneteenth | Juneteenth Activities
Have a Juneteenth dinner where you eat soul food.
Cook some black eyed peas, greens, corn bread, fried chicken, mac & cheese, hamhocks, and whatever other soul food you can think of for Juneteenth.
You can either make it all yourself or have a potluck dinner where each person brings a dish.
Or just support a black owned soul food restaurant.
Whether you want to go to the restaurant in person or you want to have it delivered, order some soul food.
I recommend using DoorDash or GrubHub.
From my experience there tends to be more soul food options on Door Dash.
Go to a Juneteenth festival or celebration event.
Do a search on Google to see what Juneteenth events are happening near you.
Wear a Juneteenth shirt, tote bag, or pin!
Show your support for Juneteenth by wearing something that celebrates Juneteenth.

Have a painting session where you create black art and listen to music made my black people.
Host a painting with a twist session where you have canvases, paint brushes, acrylic paint, paint smocks, and easels so you can paint with your friends or family.
Also have a hype playlist ready to go.
Have a barbecue get together.
Either go to a park or have a barbecue in your backyard.
Pull out your foldable chairs, a pool for the kids, and the water balloons (Walmart or Amazon).
Shop black owned businesses.
Visit a black owned store either in person or online and shop their products.

Visit an African American focused museum.
Find a museum that showcases African American art or African American history and visit it.
Watch some black movies.
Host a black movie marathon where you watch some of your favorite movies that star black actresses and actors.
I would say you can watch some black (slave freedom focused) movies, but I personally don’t really like those movies too much for obvious reasons.
Tubi Tv actually has a lot of black movies available that I’ve never even heard of. Plus it’s free, but with commercials.
I also recommend watching Black Dynamite on HBO Max because it’s hilarious!
Have a karaoke session.
Sing your favorite songs that were made by black artists either by yourself or with friends and family.
Listen to stories about your ancestors from your grandparents.
Visit your grandparents and listen to them share stories about past experiences from their childhood or from their parents’ lives.
