I was in the mood for Italian food and we decided to check out Mama Mia which is an Italian restaurant in Livonia, MI.
Today I’m going to share with you guys my experience of the Livonia restaurant, Mama Mia.
We tried Mama Mia in Livonia, MI for Date Night! – Restaurant Review
Customer Service
Absolutely loved how we were treated when we went here. Everyone who worked there was friendly and very helpful. I want to say the owner or manager of the restaurant even came to our table to ask us how we were enjoying everything which was very nice.
Our waitress was attentive and helped us to decided what we should try which we really appreciated.
We also received bread sticks and they were so scrumptious.
We almost ate the whole basket, but wanted to have some to take home and also didn’t want to get full before even eating our meal.
The Ambience
The music was lovely. The lights weren’t super bright or super low which I enjoyed.
I also recommend sitting in a booth if possible since they were pretty comfy to sit in.
A great place to go to for a family or friend outting. Also a lovely restaurant to go to for a date night.
Mama Mia Livonia Menu
They offer not only pastas, but pizza.
They sell veal, chicken, steak, pork chops, and fish dishes if you have a specific meat you want to eat.
They also have a Menu special that you can order from which I did order my entree meal from.
What Did I Order from Mama Mia – Livonia
For the appetizer, we chose to get the roma tomato bruschetta which is served with garlic toast.
I am a huge fan of bruschetta and their bruschetta was pretty good.
It’s this mixture of tomatoes and other veggies that you eat with toasted bread.
Highly recommend it as an appetizer whenever you go to any Italian restaurant.
I will say… I have had bruschetta from another Italian restaurant and I’ll be honest.. I liked the other restaurant’s bruschetta a bit better mainly because they had melted cheese on their toast.
However this restaurant’s bruschetta was pretty delicious even without the cheese.
I’d rate it a 4 out of 5 stars.
I ordered the Chef Special with a salad.
I’ll focus on the salad first. The salad tasted so fresh.
The salad tasted absolutely lovely. I chose Italian dressing to go with it and authentic Italian dressing tastes so healthy, but delicious.
It’s not overly salty.
As far as the Chef Special it was a pasta dish.
The Chef Special has grilled marinated chicken breast, bell peppers, applewood bacon, button mushrooms, and Vidalia onions with it all simmered in garlic parmesan cream sauce which was also tossed with four cheese tortellini pasta.
First thing… I love that they give you A LOT of pasta. Like whatever you order here, you’re going to get a lot of it which is great if you have a hefty appetite or if you want to eat leftovers later (which is what happened for me).
So I’ll be honest…. this was my first time trying tortellini pasta and I didn’t like it.
I am not sure what I was expecting, but the cheese in the pasta wasn’t salty.. IT was kind of I don’t know how to explain it… like tart tasting.
It was a strong cheese that wasn’t salty which I have a palette that likes more salty food so that was my mistake because I didn’t really know how tortellini pasta was especially with cheese inside of it.
The chicken breast was absolutely delicious!
It was seasoned nicely and it tasted amazing.
I also really enjoyed the bell peppers, mushrooms, and onions that were in the garlic parmesan cream sauce. Perfectly cooked and seasoned to my liking.
Now for some reason I didn’t taste any bacon or see any bacon. I’m not sure if it they just didn’t add much of it, but I didn’t taste it at all.
I would rate the Chef Special… 3 out of 5 stars because I didn’t like the actual tortellini pasta and I didn’t taste any bacon, but I did enjoy everything else.
My boyfriend had the steak bits marsala which he highly recommended!
He really enjoyed it and it received a 5 out of 5 stars rating from him.
I want to say he ate almost three fifths of it at the restaurant and brought the leftovers home which he devoured hours later.

So do I recommend Mama Mia in Livonia, MI?
Honestly I do. The customer service is amazing. The service was lovely and the food is good, but you kind of have to experiment to find something that you like if you don’t regularly eat Italian food.
I love trying new things so I won’t knock the restaurant because I didn’t like the four cheese tortellini since I’m testing new things.
Plus they have so many different food options that I would have tried that I knew would be tasty, but I wanted to go outside of my normal tastes to try something new.
Overall, visit Mama Mia for Italian food and a lovely experience for family, friends, and date nights.
That pasta made my mouth water! LOL it looks SOO good.
Glad you had an amazing date night. The food looks fantastic, and kudos to Mama Mia for having attentive wait-staff. They are the asset.

Yum! This looks like a place I’d love to visit for dinner, it looks like they have some great options to select from that all look delicious.
Italian food is my favorite! The bruschetta looks great!
There’s nothing better than an authentic Italian meal! I’d love to find a copycat recipe for those breadsticks! I go to Michigan now and then so I’ll have to look this up!
You like it when they have good customer service. Thank you for sharing! I would love to get back to it and try their food.
The place looks great. I love the reasonable prices yet deliciously looking food.
Looks sumptuous there! Wish we can try to dine with that yummy meal you are having too!
