I love whenever I find ready made food that I can just pop in the microwave or oven for dinner on those nights when I don’t really feel like cooking.

Today I’m going to share with you guys something I found when buying groceries via Instacart.

I bought the Kroger fried chicken to eat for dinner and today I’m going to dive into whether it’s worth the buy.

So on Instacart the Kroger fried chicken is listed as the Home Chef Fried Chicken.

It cost $7.99 for 8 pieces. It was a mixture of drumsticks, whole wings, and thighs. I received 2 thighs, 2 wings, and 4 drumsticks.

How I warmed up the Kroger Fried Chicken

My Instacart order was delivered to me around 2:30pm and I put the chicken in the fridge until around 6 pm. I heated it up in the oven on 385 degrees for about 13 minutes.

You do have the option of warming it up in the microwave, but I preferred to heat up via the oven because I figured it’d taste fresher and like it just came out of the fryer.

The chicken smelled really good as it was cooking. I know my kitchen smelled a bit like fried chicken, but it wasn’t overpowering or anything.

The taste of Kroger Fried Chicken

The chicken tasted decent.

I will say I like the smaller pieces of fried chicken versus the bigger pieces.

I feel like the smaller pieces were a bit more flavorful whereas in the bigger pieces… the white meat had a lighter flavor of the seasoning that was used.

I absolutely loved the skin. It tasted so good. It honestly wasn’t crispy though. It actually was kind of soft to tear off of the white meat of the chicken, but I didn’t mind it.

I ate the fried chicken with a Dole Chopped Kit in Buffalo Ranch. It was pretty much a salad kit with buffalo ranch dressing as well as cucumbers and tomatoes.

The fried chicken definitely complimented the salad.

Do I recommend Kroger fried chicken?

The fried chicken from Kroger is a good buy especially if you’re in the mood for fried chicken, but you don’t feel like making it yourself or spending a lot of money.

It’s affordable and convenient. Whether you want to head to Kroger yourself or get it delivered via Instacart it’s a great option.

  3. I haven’t had the fried chicken from Kroger yet, but we used to get the fried chicken from the Walmart deli all the time. I actually have to run to Kroger tomorrow for a few things, so I think I’ll grab some of the chicken for lunch while I’m there. And I always heat things in either the oven or air fryer over the microwave. Especially chicken, it gets so spongy.
