Today I figured I would share with you guys the pros and cons of Onlyfans involving what things to think about if you’re considering starting an Onlyfans page.

So let’s jump into it!

Should I make an Onlyfans page? | The Pros and Cons of Onlyfans

Firstly I’m going to start with the cons.

The Cons of Onlyfans – The potential problems with doing Onlyfans

Onlyfans can often be seen in a specific way.

There are mixed views of Onlyfans. Some people are for it and in support of it while others judge it and look down on people who do it. Many people who are creating content on Onlyfans are in the adult industry or people that may create more provocative content (i.e. lingerie or Playboy similar photos and videos). Lots of people assume that if you start an Onlyfans you are creating this type of content. However there are a decent amount of content creators who use Onlyfans to share content exclusively for their supporters.

Ex: An artist could start an Onlyfans account to create exclusive content and live art creation specifically for their subscribers.

Ex: A Youtuber starts an Onlyfans account to show behind the scenes footage and more personal vlogs about their life.

Ex: An ASMRtist shares exclusive sound recordings that can be downloaded by their subscribers or they may take requests from their subscribers.

The potential for people at your job to find out about it could be problematic.

If you don’t have a decent following or fan base already, it’s a lot of work to promote which can be time consuming.

I’ve seen a couple of people that I follow on Twitter start Onlyfans with the hopes of growing it instantly as other people have only to be disappointed. Because of the way Onlyfans is setup, you definitely have to self promote and push your content out to the public if you would like to truly make a decent amount of money from the platform. You have to be willing to put yourself out there and think about an actual marketing strategy which can be a lot.

Some people may subscribe 1 month to see your content, then unsubscribe the next month.

A lot of people maybe curious about what type of content you’re posting. I’ve heard of women having guys subscribe and unsubscribe while sharing their disappointment about how they thought they’d see the woman naked that they subscribed to when in reality on their bio it states the type of content they create and would even explicitly share how they didn’t create that type of content either. It’s very disheartening, but that’s unfortunately just how some people are. It’s ideal to be realistic and to take it into consideration because someone who subscribes this month may not be there the next month.

In some cases I’ve also seen some people just throw up content that isn’t exclusive to their Onlyfans or they’d post content that was blurry and awful quality then they’d wonder why people unsubscribed to their Onlyfans page. You have to be realistic and think about the quality of your content. Think about your subscriber and also think about if you would subscribe to your own content if you know… you weren’t you.

Depending on the content you create on Onlyfans, someone finding out about it at your job could prove to be stressful.

Ex: You create Playboy related content on your Onlyfans. You work in a professional establishment. Someone from your job finds out about it and shares the information with co-workers. This could be an issue depending on the type of people who work at your job. They could be judgemental or create a work environment that is harmful to your mental health or even your job stability depending on your position in the company.

Dating maybe difficult depending on the content you create.

Some people just aren’t openminded and if Onlyfans becomes a breadwinner for you, it maybe difficult to date because some people maybe judgmental. However, I personally would just say let the person go if they aren’t accepting of your choices. It is your life after all.

You are in control of how much you make.

This can be an issue for some people if they aren’t self-motivated or self-driven. How much you make on Onlyfans is really all dependent on how you promote yourself and whether your content if quality or not. Make sure to take time out to assess a proper business plan if you’d like to do it successfully or even seriously.

Pros of Onlyfans – The benefits of Onlyfans

You’ll be able to either turn it into a side hustle or make a full time living from it.

There have been a lot of cases where people turned their venture into trying Onlyfans into something more permanent that became a full time gig where they could quit their job. There are also a decent amount of people making side income from Onlyfans where they are able to pay for a couple of bills here and there or able to plan different vacations because they can afford to do so now.

It’s easy to use and setup.

Many Onlyfan creators have shared how it’s very easy to do and doesn’t require much effort.

The payout seems to be on time.

I haven’t read any bad reviews about Onlyfans payout being late so that’s a plus.

You can create and post whatever you want.

It’s up to you what type of content you want to create and share with your subscribers. You just have to make sure you think about what your actual subscribers connect with if you’d like for them to consistently be willing to pay you monthly.

It’s a decent alternative to Patreon.

The spike of people living Patreon over the course of the past year has been great. Many creators that had Patreon accounts shifted to Onlyfans because they weren’t consistently causing issues for NSFW creators. Onlyfans has proven to be a pretty amazing platform for all types of content creators though, especially if you already have a decent amount of people who are interested in the content you make.

So that’s the truth about Onlyfans. There is the potential to make money on Onlyfans, but you definitely have to accept the bad with the good when it comes to starting Onlyfans. If you’re telling yourself “I want to start an Onlyfans” you can do it, but just be realistic about the outcome. Think about the type of content you’ll create on Onlyfans and learn how to promote onlyfans. It’s doable if you do a bit of research. Jump into the “Make Money Online” world with Onlyfans.
