I always hear about how flaxseeds are good for you, but I haven’t actually tried them in anything myself. Recently, I received the chance to try some Flaxseed muffins and brownies from Flax4Life. They are a family owned and operated bakery that creates flax based, gluten-free, baked goods. They sell muffins, brownies, toaster buns, cakes, and granola. They sent me a variety of muffins to try out and I’ve pretty much been eating these muffins over the past 2 and a half weeks. So I figured I would share with you guys what I thought about the Flax4Life muffins and the overall benefits I experienced from eating these Flax seed baked goods consistently.
I tried Flaxseed muffins! – 6 Flax Seed Benefits | Health
Before I jump into this, I just wanted to say that I was so happy to find out that the baked goods Flax4Life makes are all dairy-free, nut-free, and Non-GMO which is pretty awesome! They also have a healthy amount of protein and are high in Lignans. Lignans are a group of phytonutrients (Nutrition Journal, 2015).
What were the benefits of eating flaxseed baked goods?
- High in Fiber and loaded with Omega 3’s
- It has a protective effect against certain cancers
- Studies suggest that it is great for the brain and can be beneficial for reducing stress
- May assist with weight loss
What changes did I notice in my body?
- I felt full throughout the day more than usual. The muffins that I tried are very filling. They feel much more heavier than a regular store bought muffin. You can tell that they are jam packed with nutrients. I could eat 1 muffin for breakfast and be full for a good 4 hours without really feeling the urge to grab a snack.
- This maybe TMI, but I did do Number 2 a bit more. I believe it is because of the baked goods being high in fiber.
Now onto the muffins and brownies..
Firstly, I love that I can look at the wrapper packaging and actually be able to read the ingredients off where I know what everything is as well as what I am putting in my body.
The first muffin I tried was the Wild Blueberry muffin. It definitely wasn’t as sweet a store bought muffin, but it made sense considering a store bought muffin has all of the extra bad junk chemicals within it. It was pretty good and it had just the right amount of blueberries.
The Chunky Chocolate Chip muffins were delightful. They tasted really good. Again not as sweet as a store bought, but it was kind of like a nutritious treat. I ate these as dessert and it didn’t make me feel so bad since they’re healthy as well as just good for me in general.
The brownies were amazing! I also had these as a little dessert at the end of the day. I surprisingly liked the Cappucino brownies a bit more than the Chocolate brownies.
I tried the Carrot Raisin muffins and I’ll be honest, it was okay. I’m not a fan of raisins, but anyone who likes raisins would most likely love this one.
They also sent me Mint Chocolate brownies, Toasted Coconut brownies, and Dark Cherry brownies. I unfortunately do like anything mint chocolate flavored or anything with coconut, but I tried it. I didn’t care for either of these because of my personal preferences, but the dark cherry brownies actually weren’t that bad. If you like mint chocolate or coconut, you will probably like them more than I would.
