I had been having the taste for ice cream cake for awhile and I didn’t want to make an ice cream cake myself because…. well… I’m lazy and I didn’t want to put in the effort.
I found out that Cold Stone Creamery sold ice cream cakes and I had been wanting a Cold Stone ice cream cake for a couple of years. So I finally got one for my 28th birthday compliments of my boyfriend.
Today I figured I would share with you guys my thoughts on my Cold Stone Ice Cream cake!
I tried a Cold Stone Ice Cream Cake | Review
Cold Stone does have an assortment of ice cream cakes to choose from. I saw a lot of chocolate related cakes from red velvet to cookies and cream. Then I also saw a strawberry cheesecake ice cream cake. I’m not a big fan of cheesecake and my boyfriend isn’t a big fan of chocolate… so I went for the only option that Cold Stone offered that fit our situation which was the “Birthday Cake” Ice cream cake.
It had sprinkles mixed into the ice cream which was… an interesting texture to keep in mind when eating cake.
The cake I had did have the Super Mario bros. in their karts on top of the cake which was really cute. I can assume that this cake was technically supposed to be for children, but I am a kid at heart so it was perfectly fine.
The cake was $24.99. We asked for candles and it said $9.99 for “Toys” when it was rung up on the receipt. We didn’t notice it until we got home. I’m not sure if they charged the candles as being $9.99 or they didn’t charge us for the candle at all and actually charged us for the Super Mario bros. toy karts that were on top of the cake already.
So I would recommend buying your own candles from Walmart or a dollar store just to be safe.
In order to eat it, the cashier explained that we had to take the cake out of the freezer and let it sit for about 15 minutes so that we would be able to cut into the cake.
The cake was basically a yellow cake with blue frosting and ice cream with sprinkles layered inside of it. I really enjoyed it.
If you do ever try one of their cakes, remember that it is best to eat it within the first week of buying it because I know in my case… The outside of the cake started to get slight freezer burn where when I bit into the cake… it was kind of hard like ice.
Would I recommend eating a Cold Stone ice cream cake?
I definitely would. The cake was pretty good as well as the ice cream. It would be a great birthday cake to buy if you have a small group of people (4-5 people).
The only thing I wish was that there were more flavor alternatives. I would love to see a caramel ice cream cake or a strawberry ice cream cake that doesn’t have cheesecake in it from Cold Stone.
