3 Reasons Why Losing Weight is Hard

losing weight is hard

Losing weight has always been hard.

Over the course of the past almost 3 years, I have gained weight. I have gained about 30 pounds and it has caused some drastic changes to my life. For example, I get hot so much easier when I used to be cold all the time. I also find myself easily tired because I am out of shape. Then there’s also the factor of my clothes not fitting the way that I would like them to fit and overall having to go up 3 sizes in pants. Gaining weight has affected me so much and I realized that it was time for me to do something about it, but It is definitely a struggle to lose weight for so many reasons.

So today I figured I would rant and share with you guys a few reasons why losing weight is so freaking hard. Maybe some of you will relate to my journey of weight loss.

Firstly, having the motivation to workout isn’t consistent.

I’ll have these moments where I feel motivated to workout and usually it is when I first start off telling myself,

“Yeah… We’re about to do this! We’re about to workout and get into shape! You’re going to be fit!”

This burst of motivation that I have lasts for about a week and then it disappears. I have to say actually going to the gym is helpful because there are so many machines that I can use to exercise and target specific areas, but actually having the motivation to actually get into the car to go to the gym is a thought process on its own. I personally don’t drive and usually when I go to the gym, I am tagging along with my boyfriend… but the process of traveling there requires motivation in itself because we could easily look at each other like,

“Hey… So I’m tired because of everything that happened with work today and interaction with other people today.. So maybe we should focus our mental health on relaxing instead of working out instead.”

It’s just the way it goes.

Secondly, keeping up with what you eat is an absolute chore.

We all know that if you truly want to lose weight, you need to eat healthier and you need to eat more often. You have to get into the habit of eating better while eating breakfast, lunch, dinner, and multiple snacks throughout the day. However, it can be difficult to do that when you’re on a budget as well as if you’re lazy. I’m just going to be honest with you guys… I am a lazy individual and I am cheap. It’s something that I do need to work on, but eating healthier just makes me want to eat more food that I don’t really need to be eating. I know for a fact that if I cut out eating bread as often as I do… I would definitely lose weight, but bread is easy to have in a meal. Whether I eat a sandwich for lunch (even though I could eat wraps, but it costs more) or whether I want to eat pizza every week (which I know I shouldn’t be eating, but it’s affordable and more to eat for the price), bread is a strong part of my diet and I know I’ll need to ween myself off of it.

Which leads me to my third point…..

It’s so easy to give into temptation for food.

I know that I shouldn’t do it, but I still buy foods that I know I shouldn’t be eating like chips. However, I do opt for healthier chip options…. It’s still one of those snacks that is considered unhealthy. I have will power when it comes to eating sweets. I can buy some ice cream and leave it in the freezer for a week and a half without touching it at all, but salty and savory snacks are my weakness. I can’t help myself. I need more will power and to be more moderate when it comes to snacking on the salty snacks consistently.

losing weight is hard

Overall…. losing weight is hard, but I know that a lot of people say that the initial first 2-3 months can be the hardest because you’re starting a new habit. So I know that eventually I will be able to get it together where I can lose weight and eat healthier while eating certain snacks I like in moderation without it affecting my weight. It’s just the initial actual process of doing so that is the absolute worst.
