Having patience is a skill. It is one of those qualities that a lot of us would love to have, but many of us have issues with maintaining this. Most things in life require some sort of patience and as we wait for things to happen, many of us do not realize that having patience can actually help us grow and even reach some sort of resolve. I know I struggle with patience from time to time, but I know that it provides me with time to prepare myself for what is to come.
Today I wanted to share with you guys 14 quotes about patience which will encourage persistence to keeping focused on your goals.
Here are some of my favorite Quotes about Patience!
“Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.” – Aristotle
Going through the process of having to wait for something to happen can make you feel bitter or resentful and it can cause you a lot of irritation. However, when the wait is over.. you will receive something that was worth all of the time and effort. There have been so many times where I have attempted to patiently wait for something and it would make me feel annoyed after awhile. I would feel like the wait was too long, but once I received what I was waiting for… I feel like I appreciated it so much more. You truly have to trust the process.
“Patience Is Not the Ability to Wait:
Patience is not the ability to wait. Patience is to be calm no matter what happens, constantly take action to turn it to positive growth opportunities, and have faith to believe that it will all work out in the end while you are waiting.”
– Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart
This quote is something I truly believe, but find it hard to apply. When you’re genuinely being patient, you are at a point of feeling still and untroubled because you know that things will happen as they should. There is growth within learning to be still and remaining focused even though something maybe taking awhile to come to fruition. I feel like when I am impatient, I am actually feeling some sort of doubt that things will not happen and it makes me feel uneasy as if I need to have the thing that I want right in that very moment so that I do not lose my focus. However the moments when I do feel patient, I know that things will happen and that they are simply just taking sometime to occur.
“A waiting person is a patient person. The word patience means the willingness to stay where we are and live the situation out to the full in the belief that something hidden there will manifest itself to us.”
It is safe to say that having patience tends to mostly be about trusting that things will happen as they should and that you have clarity that things will happen as they should. With patience you feel a certain sort of confidence that everything that you are striving for is going to be worth it all, but you also feel humbled to the fact that you are learning as well as growing over the course of time it takes to receive what you are working towards.
“Have patience with everything that remains unsolved in your heart. Try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books written in a foreign language. Do not now look for the answers. They cannot now be given to you because you could not live them. It is a question of experiencing everything. At present you need to live the question. Perhaps you will gradually, without even noticing it, find yourself experiencing the answer, some distant day.”
Within having patience you will gain experience that will prepare you for everything that you have longed for or waited for. If you were to bypass your experience, you might not be properly prepared to receive whatever it is that you are working towards or focused on having. I know that a lot of us will say that we wish we could fast forward our lives to 5 years later, but it is important to experience what happens within those 5 years because it will help us understand how we reached that point and it will help us to value what we have more. If we were to speed forward 5 years or 10 years later… Yeah we might be happy about our position, but we probably would not completely appreciate everything that we have. We would most likely end up taking a lot of things for granted or we would not really understand how to properly deal with things because of the lack of past experience.
“This is one more piece of advice I have for you: don’t get impatient. Even if things are so tangled up you can’t do anything, don’t get desperate or blow a fuse and start yanking on one particular thread before it’s ready to come undone. You have to realize it’s going to be a long process and that you’ll work on things slowly, one at a time.”
When you feel overwhelmed, bothered, or exhausted because everything that you have worked for or the things in which you are focused on are not exactly happening as you would like them to right within the moment… You have to remember that these negative emotions are temporary. The negatives are temporary. The negative aspects involving the irritation and the potential doubt.. They are all trials that you must overcome. It can be hard to wait for something to happen, but you have to continue to remain focused and to keep your eyes from straying away from what you want. Don’t give up on whatever it is that you desire. Develop patience and persevere.
“Patience ensures victory.”
When you are truly patient, you have this sense of peace that you know things are going to happen. You can act on things and make decisions without having negative thoughts affect your process of making decisions. Patient individuals tend to be very successful in their endeavors. They do not rush things. They take their time and maintain which is truly important within being prosperous.
“Our patience will achieve more than our force.”
Force makes people feel like they aren’t making their own decisions as if they don’t have the right to assess their own thoughts about an issue. When someone does something forcefully, it might make the other person feel like they are being pushed into something which could lead them to feeling discomfort, uncertainty, irritation, and defensive about a situation. Patience on the other hand promotes a welcoming feeling of understanding, peacefulness, and comfort. With patience more things can change in a positive way while force can cause more problems for the future. Do things with patience and not with force. It may take longer, but it is worth it.
“And sure enough, even waiting will end…if you can just wait long enough.”
Waiting for something does not mean you will have to wait forever. A lot of people end up feeling like whatever they are waiting for will take a forever to happen for them. You have to understand that some things are worth the wait.
“The key to everything is patience. You get the chicken by hatching the egg, not by smashing it.”
Based on this saying, you can receive more if you wait versus being impulsive and reacting immediately.
“When we get impatient because something is taking too long, we should remember that Life waits on us a thousand times more than we wait on Life.”
Life waits for us to grow. The purpose of life is to grow in my opinion. We are alive because we have room to improve as well as help others. We can take the time to be patient as life presents us with things. We just have to focus on whatever it is that we are working towards and not give up on whatever it is that we want.
“Patience is not passive waiting. Patience is active acceptance of the process required to attain your goals and dreams.”
You must understand that within reaching what you want in life that you may have to be patient. Things do not come instantly. It takes time to reach your dreams and your goals. You’ll appreciate and value the achievement of your aspirations more if you go through the experience of acquiring them instead of instantly receiving them.
“You’re trying to eat grass that isn’t there. Why don’t you give it a chance to grow?”
A lot of us want to reap the rewards instantly instead of accepting that things take time to grow and become established. It’s just like eating a banana that isn’t ripe. It won’t taste good, but if you are patient the banana will become sweet enough to eat. Trust the development.
“Waiting is a form of passive persistence.”
When you wait you are allowing things to run its course. You must have a firm understanding on the idea that things take time to happen and that you can acquire what it is that you want as long as you stay focused.
“Don’t try to rush things: for the cup to run over, it must first be filled.”
When you hurry things and rush things, you may miss a lot of growth that could help you. I know a lot of you have heard of the term “Get Rich Quick” and how usually the term relates to schemes that aren’t truly successful. Successful things develop over time.. businesses, relationships, blogs, money, etc…. You can’t force things to happen quickly because if you do there will be flaws or certain things might not last long either. There is also the factor that during the time of patiently remaining focused or waiting for things to happen that you end up learning about yourself and learning about how to handle things. There is growth within becoming patient and dealing with things patiently. When you rush you are basically stopping yourself from receiving all of your blessings, especially internally within yourself and you honestly might not appreciate everything as much.
